Friends of St Mary’s (FoSM)

The Friends of St Mary’s is an independent registered charity, formed in 1990, with a heartfelt mission: to support the preservation, beautification, and maintenance of our historic parish church in Old Basing.

St Mary’s is not just a place of worship—it’s a beloved landmark at the heart of our community. The Friends work to ensure that this beautiful building remains a space where future generations can continue to gather, celebrate, and reflect.

Through fundraising and community engagement, FoSMs contributes to the ongoing care of the church fabric, helping to meet restoration needs and enhance the surroundings of this much-treasured place.

To support their work—and bring the community together—the Friends organise a variety of enjoyable and inclusive events, including:

Quiz Nights
Talks on Local and Village History
The Village Pantomime – a festive favourite full of laughter and community spirit

These events not only raise vital funds but also help strengthen the bonds within our parish.
