Living Word

What We Offer

"Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." (Psalm 119 v105)

An introduction to the tradition of Lectio Divina. Meditating on short passages of Scripture.

Every Monday evening (except in Holy Week or if Christmas Day is a Monday) in the Bolton Chapel 8.00 pm (7.30pm in winter) - for about 50 minutes

We who attend the Monday evening sessions find them a wonderful opportunity to read together and be fed by God’s Word given to us in the Sunday readings. The group is not about knowledge but about how we have a living relationship with Jesus Christ, the Word made flesh. The time taken to ponder the word of God brings rich rewards. New insights are gained into Bible passages both familiar and less familiar and the quiet periods of reflection are a benison at the end of a busy day.

The evening opens and closes with worship – the Service of Thanksgiving for The Word taken from Common Worship - and includes a reading of the appointed psalm for the coming Sunday and a time for personal prayers which may or may not be spoken out loud.
